A Jean Monnet Module is a short teaching programme (or course) in the field of European Union studies at a higher education institution. In August 2017, Dr Praveen Shetty and Dr. Veena Maben , Dept. of Humanities & Management, MIT, Manipal were awarded a Module on “Building Bridges- Indo-European Intercultural Dynamics” by the European Union. The project is co-funded by the Erasmus Programme of the European Union. This is the second Jean Monnet Module awarded to Manipal University. Dr. Neeta Inamdar, Prof. and Head, Dept. of European Studies was awarded a Jean Monnet Module on ‘Cultural Analysis and European Identity’ in the year 2014 and it was successfully completed in 2017.
Under the present Jean Monnet Module, Dr. Praveen Shetty and Dr. Veena Maben would offer an open elective course ‘Intercultural Dynamics’ to the students of Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), Manipal Academy of Higher Education.
About the Department
The Department of Humanities & Management, at Manipal Institute of Technology was established in May 2009. The department, headed by Dr. Lewlyn L Raj Rodrigues, has two disciplines: Management and English. The department offers a Post Graduate Program (M Tech) in Engineering Management and also provides support to all other departments of the college for Management and English Subjects. The department and has expertise in system dynamics, organizational behavior, econometrics and marketing, research methodology, linguistics, English literature and communication, German language and intercultural studies. The Department plays a distinctive role in molding the careers of engineers, as the spirit of scientific inquiry and application of technology need to be coupled with human values
